Can I buy a home after chapter 7 discharge in Texas? I filed to keep my home, and after all said and done, my home was discharged due to my lawyer not sending in the reaffirmation form to the bank. And the bank would not accept this or do anything about this now, as they said it was too late. They just told me sorry. It will be a year this May. Would I be able to purchase a home this year?
Hi Jackie, Generally lenders will want to see 24 months pass after the initial Chapter 7. Some lenders will make exception, depending on the condition of your credit and current debt to income ratio. A mortgage professional would be more than happy to review your credit and map a plan to recover your credit as well as explore lender options with you.
