I just sold my house.  We had the closing but the buyer’s lender was very slow to fund the loan. The buyer’s agent gave them the keys knowing the loan had not been funded and wouldn’t be for at least 24 hours. They went in and painted the house before the loan had been funded. Can / should I file a complaint against their real estate agent?
Hi, Frances, The buyer’s agent shouldn’t have given the buyer access until the lender has funded and title has dispersed the funds. Though, you as the seller, have the discretion of giving the buyers permission to access the home…knowing you are at the finish line. Whether you choose to look the other way or file a complaint against the agent is again your decision to make.
